Quickly did a georeferencing job:

It was great fun when the family come together to try an concur on a location that was our home before 1980. Everyone has a story relating to the location except me who was barely 7 years old at that time. Discussion moved quickly to how we were compensated for each and every tree that we planted in our backyard and that Durian tress are compensated better than any other trees.
We only had the CC (Community Centre, in yellow box) as a possible landmark to estimate the location. The CC served the village well and I attended kindergarten in that CC too! Initial guess of our house is the X marked in the red circle. After careful analysis of the surrounding tracks, we realised that our house is not so near to the bitumen road but further in, in the x marked in the green star.
The next step is to verify it on location! But before that, I need to locate the marked location on Google Map and the only possibility to do that is through QGIS! How exciting!

The Search Begins
Recently, I chanced upon the National Archives of Singapore website as I was searching for some old maps in Singapore. I was very excited that there is a searchable database for the Cartographic and Architectural records. Punched in "Lorong Mayang" and I am surprised to see so many old maps of the place I used to live in.
A rough visual overlay with Google Maps showed that the area has not been developed and therefore I have decided to go on a journey to trace my roots and rediscover the area I have no recollections of it as of now. Thus the Journey begins .........
